AWS/BI Data Mesh

Role overview

We are seeking an AWS/BI Data Mesh specialist to design, deliver, and support scalable data products within a modern data mesh operating model. You will partner with consultancy teams and client stakeholders to establish domain-aligned data ownership, improve data discoverability, and enable trusted analytics and BI across multiple business areas.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data mesh architectures on AWS, including domain-oriented data products and self-serve data platforms.
• Build robust data pipelines and transformation workflows using Python and AWS-native services.
• Define and enforce governance, security, and quality controls (e.g., access management, lineage, metadata, data contracts).
• Enable BI and analytics consumption layers, optimising for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and data stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet client requirements and regulatory expectations.
• Document architecture, standards, and runbooks; provide knowledge transfer and advisory support.

Essential skills & experience

• Proven hands-on experience delivering AWS Data Mesh solutions in complex environments.
• Strong Python development skills for data engineering and automation.
• Expertise with AWS services commonly used for data platforms (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Solid BI/analytics understanding, including dimensional modelling, semantic layers, and data product thinking.
• Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and version control (Git).
• Working knowledge of data governance, privacy, and security best practice.
• Strong consulting skills: stakeholder management, requirements gathering, and clear written communication.

Desirable

• Experience with data catalogue/metadata tooling and lineage solutions.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka).
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Data Analytics).
