Job Overview/ Purpose: • Support the ongoing baseline backup for Rabobank London. • Responsibility to deliver a stable, reliable and scalable backup environment which satisfies the performance, scalability and functional requirements of the bank, within financial constraints. • Take ownership and drive to completion backup initiatives as defined by the IS EET Storage Manager. Context of Job: IT Infrastructure is responsible for delivering stable, high quality, secure and cost-efficient infrastructure solutions for Rabobank’s businesses. This incorporates design, implementation, security and support of (amongst others) data centre networks, server capacity, data centres, workplace (desktop, laptop, mobile) etc. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Key areas of responsibility: • Ensure operational stability and supportability Within these responsibilities the following specific tasks are key: • Maintain data retention for historic data. • Perform daily, weekly and periodic checks and procedures as required to ensure operational reliability. • Perform product lifecycle management. • Test, maintain and improve monitoring and checking. • Add and remove backups to new and existing servers according to defined process and policy. • Perform Operational Acceptance Tests for servers for backups. • Capacity planning of backup environments ensuring appropriate investment is made at the appropriate time. • Ensure that standards are maintained in line with departmental policies and automated checks where practical. • Accountable for delivery of individually-assigned projects. Key Relationships: • Technical teams using or planning to use backups. • Users of the services delivered. • Project managers relying on backups. • Global ITI storage teams. Key Performance Indicators: • Measures of successful performance in the role relating to the Key Accountabilities and In Control indicators. • Departmental KPI’s, monthly reports, scheduled checks delivered on time and to a high quality. • Team defined KPI’s either positive, or if negatives explained with remedial actions. • Problem reports followed up with remedial actions completed successfully. • Initiatives delivered to schedule and budget. Business Knowledge/ Technical Skills: Essential: • The role requires an in-depth knowledge of Backup & Recovery architectures and technology. In particular, an in depth knowledge of Veeam Backup and replication and IBM Spectrum Protect (Formerly known as TSM). • Troubleshoot stability and performance problems for Backups. • Definition and documentation of best practice process and design. • Install and configure Backup & Recovery hardware and software. • Identify requirements and develop/deploy solutions for Backup environments. • Knowledge of working for a company supporting a large number of TSM or Veeam backups. • Strong knowledge of at least one operating system. • Clear verbal and written communication to peers and management. • Willingness to travel between NL and UK and globally as required. Desirable: • Some working knowledge of RI legacy backup technologies: • Knowledge of NetBackup. • Knowledge of client operating systems Windows/RHEL/Solaris. • Scripting experience.
