Job Description

We're working with a leading global financial institution that is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its engineering organisation and help standardise and improve build and deployment pipelines across a large application estate.

The environment includes C#/.NET and Python applications, with a mix of modern and legacy technologies. You’ll work closely with application and engineering teams to create consistent, secure and highly reusable CI/CD processes that improve the way software is built, tested and deployed across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and operate scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS and/or Azure).
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, release tooling and deployment automation.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (and/or CloudFormation), ensuring repeatable environments.
  • Drive containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (including managed services such as EKS/AKS).
  • Improve observability with monitoring, logging and alerting (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, CloudWatch).
  • Embed security best practice: IAM, secrets management, patching, vulnerability remediation and secure configuration.
  • Support incident response and problem management, participating in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to raise reliability, performance and delivery standards.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience in DevOps/SRE/Platform Engineering roles within regulated environments.
  • Proven experience in a software developer / engineering role within the C#/.NET stack
  • Strong Linux administration and scripting (Bash; Python preferred).
  • Proven experience with cloud networking, DNS, load balancing, autoscaling and security controls.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes and container build/deploy workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, Git workflows, and automated testing practices.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining compliance-aligned controls (e.g. audit trails, least privilege, change management).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and improve system reliability through engineering.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with service mesh, API gateways, or platform tooling for developer self-service.
  • Knowledge of security tooling (SAST/DAST), WAF, and secrets management (e.g. Vault).
  • Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure) and exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar frameworks.

Package & Location

  • Salary: up to £125,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid working)
  • Permanent Role
  • No sponsorship provided
