EI&C Software Application Engineer

Location: Visp, Switzerland
Work Model: 100% on-site
Contract: 12 months, with possibility of extension

We are looking for an experienced EI&C Software Application Engineer to support automation and manufacturing software applications within a highly regulated environment. This role combines software development, industrial automation, IT/OT integration, and application support, working closely with Automation, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, maintain, and enhance automation and manufacturing software applications.
• Design and integrate solutions connected to DCS, MES, data historians, databases, and other manufacturing systems.
• Develop software and scripts using VBA, PowerShell, C#, and SQL, with Git-based version control.
• Create software design specifications, functional specifications, and engineering documentation in line with GMP/GxP requirements.
• Support interfaces and data exchange between OT and IT systems.
• Perform software testing, commissioning, qualification, and deployment.
• Troubleshoot software and system issues and participate in root cause analysis.
• Improve existing applications to increase reliability, performance, and usability.
• Collaborate across Automation, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, and IT teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data integrity, change management, and validation requirements.

Your Profile

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline.
• Strong IT background covering software development, databases, networking, and system integration.
• Experience with industrial automation/manufacturing systems such as DCS, MES, or data historian platforms.
• Programming/scripting knowledge in VBA, PowerShell, C#, and SQL.
• Understanding of software lifecycle management and application support.
• Previous experience within a GMP-regulated environment, including GxP-compliant documentation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Fluent English and/or German.

Nice to Have

• Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences manufacturing.
• Knowledge of DeltaV, Syncade, PI System, or comparable industrial platforms.
• Familiarity with CSV/CSA methodologies, software validation, and data integrity requirements.
• Understanding of OT infrastructure and cybersecurity principles.
